ITIL® 5 vs ITIL® 4: The Quick Answer

ITIL® 5 is an evolution, not a revolution. The core framework — Service Value System, guiding principles, practices — remains consistent. ITIL® 5 adds enhanced guidance on AI, sustainability, data-driven decision making, and adaptive governance.

If you hold ITIL® 4 Foundation: You can upgrade to ITIL® 5 through a bridge course (1 day) rather than retaking the full Foundation exam.

Need to upgrade? CertScope's ITIL® Academy offers both the full ITIL® 5 Foundation course and the bridge course from ITIL® 4.
