Sprint
Quick Definition
A fixed-length iteration in Scrum (typically 1–4 weeks) during which a potentially releasable product Increment is created.
Detailed Explanation
The Sprint is the heartbeat of Scrum. It's a time-box within which the team plans, builds, tests, and delivers a product Increment. Sprint length is fixed and consistent — changing it mid-project disrupts cadence and predictability.
Each Sprint starts with Sprint Planning (what to build, how to build it), includes Daily Scrums (15-minute inspect-and-adapt sessions), ends with Sprint Review (inspect the Increment with stakeholders) and Sprint Retrospective (inspect and improve the process).
The Sprint Goal provides focus and coherence — all work in the Sprint should contribute to achieving this shared objective.
