Project Management
Deliverable
Quick Definition
Any unique and verifiable product, result, or capability produced to complete a process, phase, or project.
Detailed Explanation
Deliverables can be tangible (a software application, a building, a document) or intangible (a trained team, improved process, organisational capability). They're defined in the project scope and decomposed in the WBS.
Each deliverable should be measurable and verifiable against acceptance criteria. The project sponsor or customer formally accepts deliverables, confirming they meet requirements.
In Agile, the primary deliverable is the working product Increment — delivered at the end of every Sprint.
